Frequently asked questions
- Is anything I type or record sent anywhere?
- No. Key presses, clicks and touches are read in the page and go nowhere, and a microphone or webcam test keeps the sound and picture in your browser’s memory, gone when you close the page.
- Why does the microphone or camera test ask for permission?
- A browser lets a page use them only after you allow it. If you said no by mistake, allow it again from the icon in the address bar and reload the page.
- Can a web page test everything?
- Not quite. The Fn key never reaches a web page and a few shortcuts are taken by the system first, and a mouse’s DPI or polling rate is measured from the movement the browser sees, so treat those results as a good estimate rather than a lab reading.
- Is the colour vision test a diagnosis?
- No. It is a quick screen on your own screen, whose colours vary; it can suggest a colour vision difference, but only an eye care professional can tell you for certain.
