Nothing leaves your device
This tool runs entirely in your browser. What you type, play or record here stays on your device: nothing is uploaded or saved on a server.
Example
Example: a 1920 × 1080 laptop that reports 1536 × 864
A Full HD laptop, 1920 × 1080, with display scaling set to 125 %. Open the page: Screen resolution shows 1536 × 864, Pixel ratio 1.25 and Device pixels 1920 × 1080.
- Screen resolution is in CSS pixels, the unit web pages are laid out in. Device pixels multiplies it by the pixel ratio: 1536 × 1.25 = 1920.
- The refresh rate takes a second: it is measured from the gaps between the browser’s frames and shown as the nearest common rate within 3 Hz, so 59.94 reads 60 and 143.9 reads 144.
| Screen | Screen resolution | Pixel ratio | Device pixels |
|---|---|---|---|
| Full HD laptop at 125 % | 1536 × 864 | 1.25 | 1920 × 1080 |
| 4K monitor at 150 % | 2560 × 1440 | 1.5 | 3840 × 2160 |
| High-resolution laptop at 200 % | 1280 × 720 | 2 | 2560 × 1440 |
| Phone | 390 × 844 | 3 | 1170 × 2532 |
| Monitor without scaling | 1920 × 1080 | 1 | 1920 × 1080 |
The laptop is 1920 × 1080 underneath, shown at 1536 × 864 so text is a quarter larger. Copy all puts every line on the clipboard, one “label: value” to a line, for a support request or a design brief.
How it works
- Open the page: the screen resolution, device pixels, window size and pixel ratio appear at once.
- Wait a second for the refresh rate (Hz), measured from the browser’s frames.
- Press Copy all to paste the details into a support request or a design brief.
Frequently asked questions
- Why is the resolution smaller than my screen’s?
- Browsers count CSS pixels. With display scaling (a pixel ratio of 1.5 or 2), a 2560 × 1440 laptop reports 1280 × 720; the device pixels line shows the real count.
- What is the pixel ratio?
- How many physical pixels make one CSS pixel. 1 on most desktop monitors, 2 or 3 on phones and high-resolution laptops.
- Is the refresh rate right?
- It is the rate the browser draws frames at, which is usually the screen’s. Battery saver and some browsers cap it at 60 Hz even on a 120 Hz screen.
- What is my browser window size?
- The Browser window line: the space web pages get, which changes as you resize the window.
- How do I find my screen’s real resolution?
- Read the Device pixels line: the screen resolution times the pixel ratio. With display scaling on, 1536 × 864 at a ratio of 1.25 is a 1920 × 1080 screen. It matches the panel’s own pixel count when the display is set to its recommended resolution.
- What is colour depth?
- The bits per pixel the browser reports for the screen: 24 means 8 bits each for red, green and blue, about 16.7 million colours, which is what most screens show. Some wide-colour and HDR setups report 30 or more.
- Is anything sent anywhere?
- No. It is read in your browser and stays there.
