Example

Example: family game night with kids words and 60 seconds a drawing

Two mixed teams of grown-ups and kids, a whiteboard, and a seven-year-old who wants to draw too. Choose Drawing, Difficulty “Kids”, Theme “All themes” and 60 s, and pass the phone to whoever draws next.

  1. The drawer taps to see the word, say “rabbit”, then Hide and Start timer, and draws while the others guess.
  2. Guessed it! +1 adds a point and deals a fresh, hidden word for the next player. If a word is too hard to draw, Skip gives the same player another one and the clock keeps running.
  3. When the 60 seconds are up the phone beeps and shows Time’s up!; Next word gives the next player a new word and a full minute.
  4. With Kids and All themes the deck is 99 words, from cat and ball to bus stop and firefighter, and none comes back until all 99 have been dealt.

Food 141615
Actions 141514

The table shows how many drawing words each theme and level has. There is one score, the words guessed, so with two teams write down the score after each team’s turn. Changing the level or theme mid-game keeps the score and starts a fresh deck.

How it works

  1. Choose the difficulty (kids, easy or hard), a theme and the time per word.
  2. Pass the phone or look at the screen alone: tap to see the word, then Hide and Start timer while you draw.
  3. When someone guesses, press Guessed it! for a point and hand over to the next player; Next word skips to a fresh one.

Frequently asked questions

How many words are there?
Over 300, in seven themes and three levels. They come in a shuffled order and none repeats until all the words of your choice have been used.
What are the kids words like?
Simple things a six-year-old can draw and name — cat, ball, sun, apple. Hard words are longer ideas that are still drawable, like a lighthouse or a traffic jam.
Can we play it on a big screen?
Yes — press Full screen, but then the drawer should look at the word on a phone instead, or everyone sees it. Keys: Space shows or hides, N gives the next word, S starts the timer.
Is there a version for acting?
Yes — the charades page uses words you can act out without speaking.
What is the difference between Skip and Next word?
Skip is for the player who is drawing: they get another word, shown straight away if the last one was, and the clock keeps running. Next word is for handing over: a new hidden word for the next player and the clock back to the start. Guessed it! does the same as Next word and adds a point.
Does it keep score for two teams?
It keeps one score, the number of words guessed. Changing the level, theme or time keeps it; Reset sets it back to 0 and reshuffles the words. For two teams, note the score at the end of each team’s turn.
Is anything sent anywhere?
No. The words are picked in your browser.
