Example
Example: a family charades round with easy action words
Two teams, Easy, theme Actions, 60 seconds per word. The phone goes to whoever acts; only they look at the word.
- Tap to see the word — say, brushing teeth — hide it, and start the timer.
- Act it out without speaking while the team calls out guesses.
- Guessed it! adds a point and gives the next player a new word; Skip swaps the word while the clock keeps running.
| Level | Action words, for example | Charades words, all themes |
|---|---|---|
| Kids | running, jumping, sleeping, swimming | 96 |
| Easy | brushing teeth, riding a bike, sneezing, flying a kite | 103 |
| Hard | juggling, changing a tire, building a snowman, sleepwalking | 94 |
Easy has 15 action words and 103 charades words across the seven themes. Each comes up once before the words are shuffled again, so an evening’s game runs without repeats.
How it works
- Choose the difficulty and theme, and how long each player has.
- The player whose turn it is taps to see the word, hides it, and starts the timer.
- Act it out without speaking; when the team guesses, press Guessed it! for a point.
Frequently asked questions
- What makes a good charades word?
- Something you can show with your body: animals, actions like brushing your teeth, jobs like a firefighter. Words that can only be drawn — a cloud, a river — are left out of charades.
- How do we keep score?
- Guessed it! adds a point for the team or player; Reset starts at zero. For two teams, a scoreboard page can keep both scores.
- Is it good for children?
- Yes — the kids level has simple animals, foods and actions that young children know.
- Can I use it in class?
- Yes, for vocabulary: pick a theme like jobs or food and let pupils act out the words in turn.
- How do you play charades?
- One player sees a word and acts it out without speaking, while their team guesses before time runs out. Then the next player, or the other team, takes a turn; Guessed it! keeps the score.
- How many words are there?
- About a hundred per level for charades — 96 for kids, 103 easy and 94 hard — in seven themes: animals, objects, food, actions, places, jobs and nature.
- Is anything sent anywhere?
- No. The words are picked in your browser.
