Greek keyboard online

Type Greek on any computer — accents included.

Characters: 0

Your own keyboard types here too, by key position: each key types the character shown on it below (the small Latin letter is your key), Shift for the second one. If your computer is already set to this script, its keys are left as they are.

Nothing leaves your device

This tool runs entirely in your browser. What you type, play or record here stays on your device: nothing is uploaded or saved on a server.

Example

Example: “Καλημέρα” and “Πώς είσαι;” typed on an English keyboard

You want to text a Greek friend “Good morning” and “How are you?”. Each key types the Greek letter on the same key of a Greek keyboard — mostly the one that sounds alike — and the accent key ; comes before its vowel.

  1. Letters that do not look alike: h is η, u is θ, j is ξ, c is ψ, v is ω, and w is the final ς.
  2. The Greek question mark looks like a semicolon and sits on Q; the ; key next to L is the accent.
  3. Shift+; and then ι or υ gives ϊ ϋ; Shift+W and then ι or υ gives ΐ ΰ.
You press You get
Shift+K a l h m ; e r a Καλημέρα
Shift+P ; v w, space, e ; i s a i q Πώς είσαι;
Shift+E y x a r i s t ; v Ευχαριστώ
Shift+K a l ; o, space, t a j ; i d i Καλό ταξίδι

Press Copy and paste it into the message: Καλημέρα. Πώς είσαι; — accents in place, the final ς of Πώς and the Greek question mark, none of which a Latin keyboard types on its own.

How it works

  1. Click the letters, or type on your own keyboard: most keys type the Greek letter that sounds like the Latin one.
  2. For an accent, press the ; key, then the vowel (ά); Shift + ; then the vowel gives ϊ ϋ.
  3. Press Copy and paste the Greek text into your message, document or maths homework.

Frequently asked questions

How do I type accented letters like ά?
Press the accent key (;) first, then the vowel. The key waits for the next letter, as on a Greek keyboard.
Where is the final sigma ς?
On the W key; σ is on S.
Can I use it for maths and science symbols?
Yes — α, β, γ, δ, λ, μ, π, σ, Ω and the rest are all there, lower case and capital.
How do I use the text?
Press Copy and paste it into your message, document or search box. Nothing is saved: copy before you close the page.
How do I type the Greek question mark?
Press Q: it types ;, which is the Greek question mark. Shift+Q types the colon. The ; key next to L is the accent key on this layout, so it does not type a semicolon.
How do I type ΐ and ΰ?
Press Shift+W, then ι or υ. Shift+; followed by ι or υ gives ϊ and ϋ, and an accent key followed by a space types the accent mark on its own.
Is what I type sent anywhere?
No. The keyboard works in your browser; the text stays on the page until you copy it.
