Nothing leaves your device
This tool runs entirely in your browser. What you type, play or record here stays on your device: nothing is uploaded or saved on a server.
Example
Example: a 15-minute traffic count with four counters
A school traffic survey at a junction: four counters named Cars, Vans and lorries, Bikes and Buses, one tap for each vehicle that passes.
- Select a counter (it is outlined) and press Space for each vehicle, or tap its button.
- One car counted twice by mistake: ↓ takes one off, so Cars goes from 86 back to 85.
- The total adds all the counters up as you go.
| Counter | Count |
|---|---|
| Cars | 85 |
| Vans and lorries | 11 |
| Bikes | 19 |
| Buses | 4 |
| Total | 119 |
119 vehicles in 15 minutes, 85 of them cars. The counts stay in this browser, so the page can be closed and opened again before the results are written up.
How it works
- Tap the big button, or press Space, Enter or ↑, to add one; ↓ or − takes one away.
- Add more counters and name them — for example “in” and “out”, or one per team; the total adds them up.
- Change the step to count by 2, 5 or 10; go full screen on a phone or tablet.
Frequently asked questions
- Are my counts saved?
- Yes, in this browser: close the page and they are still there when you come back. Reset asks before it sets a counter back to 0.
- How many counters can I have?
- Up to 20, each with its own name, and a total of all of them — useful for counting visitors in and out, votes, or several kinds of birds or cars.
- Can I count without looking?
- Yes — turn on the click sound (and vibration on phones), and use the keyboard or a Bluetooth clicker that sends Space or Enter.
- Does it count backwards below zero?
- No, counts stop at 0; the step is between 1 and 1,000.
- How do I count by 2, 5 or 10?
- Set Step: each tap then adds that many, and ↓ takes that many off. The step is shared by all the counters and can be any whole number from 1 to 1,000.
- Is anything sent anywhere?
- No. The counts stay on your device.
