Example
Example: drawing three raffle winners from tickets 1 to 180
A school fall festival sold raffle tickets numbered 1 to 180, with three prizes. Type 1 as the minimum and 180 as the maximum, choose 3 numbers and leave “No repeats” on, so one ticket can’t win twice.
- Press Generate, or the space bar. One draw gave 152, 10, 19, listed in the order drawn: 152 takes the first prize, 10 the second and 19 the third.
- Every ticket had the same chance, 3 in 180 or 1 in 60, of winning a prize. The numbers come from the browser’s cryptographic generator, with no bias toward any value.
- The draw stays in the history, “1–180” beside “152, 10, 19”, until the page is closed, so it can be shown again. Typed the other way round, 180 and 1, the range is the same.
| You want | Settings | You get |
|---|---|---|
| A number from 1 to 10 | Number, 1 to 10, 1 number | One number |
| A 6-from-49 lottery line | 1 to 49, 6 numbers, no repeats | Six different numbers |
| A class of 20 in random order | 1 to 20, 20 numbers, no repeats | Each of 1 to 20 once, shuffled |
| Two dice for a board game | Dice, 2 dice, d6 | Two faces and their total, 2 to 12 |
| Heads or tails | Coin, 1 coin | Heads or Tails |
Three winning tickets in one click, drawn in front of everyone. “No repeats” works within one draw, not across draws: if a winner may not turn up, draw 4 at the start and keep the fourth as the stand-by.
How it works
- Type the lowest and highest number (1 and 100), and how many numbers you want.
- Leave “no repeats” on for a draw where no number comes up twice, like a raffle or lottery.
- Press Generate, or the space bar. Your last 20 draws stay in the history until you close the page.
Frequently asked questions
- Is it really random?
- Yes. Every result comes from your browser’s cryptographic random number generator — the one used for passwords and keys — with no bias toward any value. The draw is decided first; the animation only shows it.
- How do I pick several numbers without repeats?
- Choose how many numbers and leave “no repeats” on: 6 numbers from 1 to 49 gives a lottery-style draw where each number appears once. With repeats allowed, the same number can come up again.
- Can I use negative or very large numbers?
- Yes — any whole numbers from −1,000,000,000,000,000 to 1,000,000,000,000,000, typed in either order.
- Can it roll dice or flip a coin?
- Yes: switch to Dice for 1 to 10 dice with 4 to 100 sides and their total, or Coin to flip up to 10 coins.
- Can I put a list of people in random order?
- Number them, then draw all the numbers: 1 to 20 with 20 numbers and no repeats gives each number once, shuffled — the order to present in, or to hand out seats. How many numbers takes any count up to 100, so a class of 27 is 1 to 27 with 27 numbers.
- Which total is most likely with two dice?
- 7: it comes up in 6 of the 36 ways two six-sided dice can land, about 17%. 6 and 8 come 5 times in 36, and 2 and 12 only once in 36 (under 3%). Choose Dice, 2 dice and d6: each die is drawn on its own, so over many rolls the totals fall just like this.
- Is anything uploaded?
- No. The numbers are drawn in your browser and the history is kept only in the open page.
