How it works
- Choose the work and break lengths — 25 and 5 minutes is the classic pomodoro.
- Press Start and work until the sound; the timer moves to the break on its own.
- After the break the next round begins; the round number is shown above the time.
Frequently asked questions
- What is the pomodoro technique?
- A way of working in focused blocks: 25 minutes on one task, then a 5-minute break, and a longer break after about four rounds. It was named after a tomato-shaped kitchen timer.
- Can I change the lengths?
- Yes — work from 15 to 60 minutes and breaks from 3 to 15. Some people prefer 50 and 10 for deep work.
- Does it keep time in another tab?
- Yes. The time is worked out from the clock, not by counting ticks, so it stays right in a background tab or after the laptop sleeps, and the sound is scheduled ahead so it rings on time.
- Does it take a long break after four rounds?
- Not automatically: pause after the fourth round for a longer break, then resume.
- Is anything uploaded?
- No. The timer runs in your browser; nothing is sent anywhere.
