A 4 pm London call with New York, Chicago and LA across the October clock change

A team in London has a call every Tuesday at 16:00 with colleagues in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles, everyone working 9:00–18:00. From: London; places: New York, Chicago, Los Angeles; the same time on three Tuesdays in autumn 2026.

  1. The UK puts its clocks back on Sunday, October 25, 2026, the US a week later, on November 1. For that week New York is 4 hours behind London instead of 5, and Los Angeles 7 instead of 8.
  2. The planner lists the London hours with the time in each place beside them, and ✓ where every place is between 9:00 and 18:00.
Tuesday, 16:00 in London New York Chicago Los Angeles Good for everyone (London time)
October 20 (UTC+1, summer time) 11:00 AM10:00 AM8:00 AM17:00–18:00
October 27 (UTC+0) 12:00 PM11:00 AM9:00 AM16:00–18:00
November 3 (UTC+0) 11:00 AM10:00 AM8:00 AM17:00–18:00

In the week of October 27 the 16:00 call is 9:00 AM in Los Angeles and suits everyone; on the other two Tuesdays it is 8:00 AM there, and only 17:00 London time works. The same gap opens in spring, when the US changes its clocks two or three weeks before the UK.

How it works

  1. Type the places to compare, one a line: a city (London, Tokyo), a zone (Europe/Paris), an offset (UTC+5:30) or an abbreviation (PST).
  2. Type where you start from, and the date and time there — or leave them empty for right now.
  3. Read the time in each place, then the planner: ✓ marks the hours inside everyone’s working day.

Frequently asked questions

How is the time difference worked out?
From each place’s UTC offset on the date you give, taken from your browser’s time zone database — so summer time is counted only when it applies. New York is 5 hours behind London most of the year, but 4 for a few weeks in March and October-November, when the two change clocks on different dates.
Which places can I type?
About 850 cities in any of our languages (Munich or München, Nueva York), IANA zones like America/Chicago, offsets like UTC−3 or GMT+8, and abbreviations such as EST, CET, JST or IST. A name shared by several cities needs the country: “Córdoba, Argentina”.
How do I find a meeting time across time zones?
Type everyone’s city and read the planner: each row is one hour in your place, with the time in every other place, and ✓ where all of them are within the working day. Change the working hours if people start early or finish late.
Does it know about summer time changes?
Yes, for every date: a date in January gives winter offsets, one in July summer offsets, and a time the clocks skip is read as the time after the change.
Is IST India or Ireland?
IST is read as India Standard Time, UTC+5:30. For Ireland, type Dublin: it follows Irish time, including summer time from the last Sunday of March.
What if no hour suits everyone?
The planner says “No hour falls within the working day everywhere” — London, New York and Bengaluru never share an hour between 9:00 and 18:00, for instance. Widen the working day and the possible hours appear: from 7:00 to 22:00, that trio has 12:00–17:00 London time in November.
Is anything uploaded?
No. It is worked out in your browser, and nothing you type leaves your computer.
