How it works
- Type one entry per line: a duration (1:30, 1h30m, 90m, 1.5h), a start and end time (9:00-17:30), or a sum (1:30 + 2:45 - 0:15).
- Add "break 1:00" after a start and end time to take the break off.
- Each line is worked out as you type, and the total of all lines appears at the end.
- Copy the result. Decimal hours (8.5 instead of 8:30) are shown for timesheets and pay calculations; switch them off if you do not need them.
Frequently asked questions
- How do I write a range and a subtraction?
- A hyphen with no spaces between two times is a range: 9:00-17:30 is 8 hours 30 minutes. With spaces it subtracts: 2:45 - 0:15 is 2:30. "~" and "to" always mean a range.
- What about a night shift?
- A range whose end is earlier than its start runs past midnight: 22:00-6:00 is 8 hours.
- What are decimal hours?
- The same time as a number of hours: 8:30 is 8.5, 7:45 is 7.75. Pay and timesheet systems usually want this form, and it is shown next to each result.
- Can it do seconds?
- Yes: write 1:02:03 or 45s, and every result is shown with seconds.
