How it works

  1. Choose the computer and its level, or a friend; black moves first.
  2. Place a disc so that it traps a straight line of the other colour between two of yours — those discs flip.
  3. When neither side can move, the one with more discs wins.

Frequently asked questions

What are the rules of reversi?
Each move must outflank at least one line of the opponent’s discs — across, down or diagonally — between the new disc and another of yours; every disc in those lines flips. If you have no legal move, you pass. The game ends when neither player can move.
Any strategy tips?
Corners can never be flipped, so they are gold; avoid the squares next to an empty corner. Early on, fewer discs and more possible moves is often better than grabbing many discs.
How strong is the computer?
Easy is greedy and makes mistakes; medium looks a few moves ahead and values corners; hard searches deeply and plays the last dozen moves perfectly.
Can two people play?
Yes — choose “A friend” and take turns on the same screen.
Is anything sent anywhere?
No. The game runs in your browser and your record stays on this device.
