Nothing leaves your device
This tool runs entirely in your browser. What you type, play or record here stays on your device: nothing is uploaded or saved on a server.
How it works
- Choose the computer and its level — or a friend on the same screen — and your colour.
- Move by dragging a piece or clicking it and then a marked square; the board shows every legal move.
- Play to checkmate, take moves back with Undo, and copy the game as PGN when it’s over.
Frequently asked questions
- How strong is the computer?
- Beginner makes real mistakes and suits new players; Casual doesn’t leave pieces hanging; Club looks four moves ahead; Strong searches as deep as it can in about a second and is a challenge for most club players.
- Are all the rules included?
- Yes — castling, en passant, promotion to any piece, check, checkmate and stalemate, and draws by threefold repetition, the fifty-move rule and insufficient material.
- Can two people play on one device?
- Yes — choose “A friend” and take turns; flip the board if you sit opposite each other. For timed games, open the chess clock alongside.
- Can I save or analyse my game?
- The game in progress is kept in this browser. Copy it as PGN to open it in any chess program, or copy the position as FEN.
- Is anything sent anywhere?
- No. The computer plays in your browser; nothing is uploaded.
