How it works
- Type one class per line: the name (optional), the grade, then the credits.
- Leave the credits out and every class counts the same.
- The GPA appears with the total credits and how each line was read.
Frequently asked questions
- How is a GPA worked out?
- Each grade is turned into points — A is 4.0, A- 3.7, B+ 3.3, B 3.0 and so on down to F at 0 — multiplied by the class’s credits, and the total divided by all the credits. A+ counts 4.0, as at most US colleges.
- What about pass/fail classes?
- A P, NP, S, U or W has no grade points, so the line is left out of the average (and its credits with it), as a transcript does. It is listed under the result so you can see it was skipped.
- Can I weight by percentages?
- Yes. Choose the plain weighted average and write the weights as 30%, 40%, 30% — or as any numbers; they need not add up to 100.
- Does it work for other countries?
- Yes: Korea’s 4.5 and 4.3 scales, Japan’s GPA and 1–5 marks, German grades where 1 is best, French marks out of 20 with coefficients, Spain and Brazil out of 10, Italian university marks with CFU, and Turkish school averages by weekly hours.
- Is anything uploaded?
- No. It is worked out in your browser, and nothing you type leaves your computer.
