Frequently asked questions
- Why are the letters so wide?
- Every character is made full-width so the columns line up; a half-width letter or space would shift everything after it. It is the same text in wide form, not an image.
- Why do the columns run from right to left?
- That is how vertical Japanese and Chinese are read. For English written top to bottom, keep it to one line per column and read the columns from right to left.
- Why does it look ragged on some phones?
- The columns line up in fonts where every full-width character has the same width, which Japanese fonts do. Some apps show posts in a font where they are not quite equal.
- Is what I type sent anywhere?
- No. The conversion runs in this page as you type.
