How it works
- Choose how many Tabata sets you want and the break between them (one set is the classic).
- Press Start: after the get-ready countdown, go all out for 20 seconds while the screen is red, rest 10 seconds while it is green.
- Eight rounds make about four minutes; the beeps tell you when to go and when to stop.
Frequently asked questions
- What is a Tabata workout?
- Eight rounds of 20 seconds of very hard exercise and 10 seconds of rest — about four minutes. Pick one exercise (burpees, squats, sprints) or alternate two.
- How many Tabata sets should I do?
- One set is the classic; many people do 2–4 sets with a minute of rest between them. Set Sets and the break here.
- Why does the total show 3:50?
- The last round ends the set with work, not rest — the final 10-second rest isn’t needed.
- Can I change 20/10?
- Use the interval timer page for any other times, like 40/20 or 30/30.
- Is anything sent anywhere?
- No. The timer runs in your browser.
