This tool runs entirely in your browser. What you paste is processed on your device and is never sent to a server, so it is safe to use with tokens, keys and unpublished text.
How it works
- Paste the text — plain or already in ROT13.
- The result appears at once: every letter moved 13 places along the alphabet.
- Copy it; to reverse, paste the result back — the same step decodes it.
Frequently asked questions
- Why does ROT13 decode itself?
- The alphabet has 26 letters, and 13 + 13 = 26: shifting twice brings every letter back to where it started.
- What is ROT13 used for?
- Hiding things you shouldn’t read by accident — spoilers, quiz answers, punchlines — not for secrets: anyone can undo it.
- Are numbers changed?
- No — only the letters A to Z. (ROT5 for digits and ROT47 for all symbols are other variants, not used here.)
- Can I use other shifts?
- Yes — the Caesar cipher page takes any shift from 1 to 25 and can try them all.
- Is my text sent anywhere?
- No. It is shifted in your browser.
