Example

Example: R$ 8.000,00 in the FGTS and a R$ 3.500,00 salary, over five years

A worker has R$ 8.000,00 across all FGTS accounts (from the FGTS app) and earns R$ 3.500,00 gross a month. Years to project: 5.

  1. R$ 8.000,00 falls in the band from R$ 5.000,01 to R$ 10.000,00: 20 % plus a fixed R$ 650,00.
  2. This year: 20 % of R$ 8.000,00 is R$ 1.600,00, plus R$ 650,00 = R$ 2.250,00; R$ 5.750,00 stays in the account.
  3. The years ahead add the employer’s 8 % deposit, R$ 280,00 a month, and 3 % a year, without TR or the profit share.

5 R$ 12.155,65R$ 2.973,35R$ 9.182,30

R$ 13.304,53 withdrawn over five years. The cost: dismissed without cause after opting, you get the employer’s 40 % fine but not the balance — R$ 9.182,30 in year 5 would stay locked — and going back takes effect only in the 25th month after asking.

How it works

  1. Find your total FGTS balance in the FGTS app.
  2. Enter it to see this year’s withdrawal.
  3. Add your gross salary to project the years ahead.
  4. Compare with what would stay locked if you were dismissed.

Frequently asked questions

How is it worked out?
On the total of all FGTS accounts: 50 % up to R$ 500 down to 5 % above R$ 20,000, plus a fixed part of up to R$ 2,900 (Lei 8.036/1990, art. 20-D).
What is the catch?
Dismissed without cause, you get the 40 % fine but not the balance; going back takes effect only in the 25th month after asking.
How much is the birthday withdrawal on R$ 25.000,00?
R$ 4.150,00: above R$ 20.000,00 the rate is 5 %, R$ 1.250,00, plus the fixed R$ 2.900,00. R$ 20.850,00 stays in the account.
Why is there a fixed part on top of the percentage?
So that the withdrawal never drops when the balance moves into the next band, where the rate is lower. At R$ 10.000,00 it is R$ 2.650,00 (20 % + R$ 650,00), and just above, at 15 % + R$ 1.150,00, it is still R$ 2.650,00.
Is it exact?
This year’s figure follows the official table; the projection leaves out TR and the profit share, so it is a floor.
Is what I enter uploaded?
No. It is worked out in your browser.
